The mission of Anderson Library is to inspire curious, confident, and ethical thinkers who know how to find, evaluate, create, and share information. Through inquiry-driven research, a diverse and inclusive collection, and purposeful instruction, students develop the skills to ask thoughtful questions, explore new ideas, and navigate an ever-changing world of information, both at MBS and beyond.

Research Across the Curriculum
At Morristown Beard School’s Anderson Library, research is more than finding information. It’s about learning to ask thoughtful questions, explore ideas, and make sense of an ever-expanding world of information.
The head librarian partners with faculty across disciplines to design engaging, inquiry-driven research experiences that help students become confident and discerning researchers. Through individualized research conferences, students learn to navigate a wide range of digital and print resources, from the Anderson Library’s own collection to a statewide consortium that provides access to university-level materials. Along the way, they develop the skills to evaluate, connect, and use information thoughtfully, preparing them to be curious, capable learners well beyond MBS.
The Windows and Mirrors Approach
The Anderson Library’s fiction and leisure reading collection invites students to see themselves in the stories they read while discovering experiences beyond their own. Through a windows and mirrors approach, the collection offers both mirrors that reflect students’ lives and windows that open onto the lives, perspectives, and experiences of others.
