Our Academic Program
Our Middle School teachers know their subjects deeply and understand how to make learning meaningful for adolescents. They create rigorous, student-centered experiences that challenge students to think critically, ask questions, make connections, and take ownership of their learning.
Small classes and close relationships between students and faculty allow teachers to know each student well and provide the right level of challenge and support. Students have opportunities to explore their interests, learn from different perspectives, and build the confidence and skills they need to succeed both in and beyond the classroom.

Middle School Signature Programs
Our Signature Programs give Middle School students additional opportunities to explore, create, communicate, and connect their learning to the world around them. Each program builds skills and habits that complement the academic curriculum while encouraging students to think creatively, take initiative, and discover what they’re capable of.
Design Thinking and The Makerspace
Encourages creativity, innovation, and hands-on problem solving through design thinking and maker-based projects.
English Workshop: Creative Writing Workshop 7 and Public Speaking Workshop 8
Dedicated writing and public speaking workshops for seventh and eighth graders that strengthen writing skills alongside English classes.
Foundation of Success: Study Skills and Organization
Explicit instruction in organization, time management, planning, and study habits to build lifelong academic success.
Global Learning & Global Perspectives
Extends learning beyond the classroom through immersive travel experiences that bring language, history, geography, and global perspectives to life.

Purposeful off-campus experiences, field studies, and community-based learning that connect classroom concepts to the real world.
MBS Centers for Learning
Every student learns differently. Our Centers for Learning provide additional opportunities for students to strengthen essential skills, better understand how they learn, and pursue areas of interest with confidence. Together, these centers give students the tools, support, and space to become more independent and effective learners.
The Center for Academic Writing
The Center for Academic Writing (CAW) helps students become stronger, more confident writers. Students can receive individualized support while also taking on leadership roles as writing tutors, helping peers develop their own skills.
The Center for Teaching & Learning
The Center for Teaching & Learning (CTL) helps students better understand themselves as learners. Through individualized support and guidance, students develop self-advocacy, self-awareness, and the strategies they need to approach learning with confidence.
The Center for Quantitative Reasoning
The Center for Quantitative Reasoning (CQR) provides students with support in mathematics while helping them strengthen foundational skills and develop confidence with quantitative thinking. Students can also explore mathematical ideas and interests that extend beyond the classroom.
The Center for Innovation & Design
Opened in 2019, the Center for Innovation & Design (CID) is an 8,000-square-foot space where students design, build, experiment, and solve problems through hands-on, multidisciplinary projects. The CID gives students room to turn ideas into action and learn through the process of creating.
