Marteese Robinson
Marteese Robinson is an assistant coach of Morristown Beard varsity and junior varsity boys baseball.
Marteese has more than 30+ years in baseball with 18 of those years working in professional baseball as a scout and in the front office. He has years of experience in team management, practice management, game-time decision making, defensive coaching, plus pitching and hitting specialties and training. He also has provided individual coaching and training for University, junior college, high school and little league players in outfield play, hitting and pitching. He also developed a training class for introduction into hitting for high school, college and prospective professional baseball players.
Marteese attended Seton Hall University on a baseball scholarship from 1984 to 1987 where he played for Newark New Jersey Athletic Hall of Famer Coach Mike Sheppard. He led the nation in hitting in 1987 with a .529 batting average, earning co-College Player of the Year honors with Robin Ventura, The Big East Championship, and All-American honors. Marteese was drafted in the 6th round by the Oakland Athletics in the 1987 Amateur draft held that year.
His scouting career began as an area scout with the Toronto Blue Jays from 1999 to 2000. He then spent the next seven years from 2001 to 2007 as the Director of Professional Scouting for the Saint Louis Cardinals, providing oversight for the team’s professional scouting staff, including the teams advance scouting efforts. During his tenure with the Cardinals, the team was the 2004 National League Champions and the 2006 World Series Champions. Marteese has also served as a scout for the Washington Nationals as their East Coast Cross Checker and spent 4 seasons as the Head Freshman Baseball Coach for Campo Verde High School located in Gilbert, AZ.
