Wellness & Guidance
The Guidance Program at MBS consists of a three person team: Mr. Eddie Franz, the Director of Guidance, Dr. Sam Tuttle, the MS Guidance Coordinator, and Ms. Jenna Sumner, the Director of the Center for Teaching and Learning. All three are experienced school counselors that work together in support of students. The guidance team acts as a resource for students, families, and teachers.
Eddie Franz, our Guidance Director since 1993 holds a Masters in Secondary School Counseling and is responsible for many of our guidance driven initiatives at Morristown-Beard School over the last 28 years. Mr. Franz meets individually with students, and runs a series of group guidance programs in all of the upper school grades including Freshman and Senior Transitions, Career Testing for juniors, and a Senior-Sophomore Workshop. Mr. Franz also serves on the Upper School team which includes grade deans, the Head of the Upper School, and the members of the CTL. This group covers all guidance issues in grades nine through twelve once per cycle. Mr. Franz also teaches Humanities and Constitutional Law to juniors and seniors.
