Knowing ourselves is crucially important, but the road to genuine self-awareness is full of obstacles. We believe that asking our students to regularly reflect in writing makes that journey a bit easier on the adolescent mind. Middle School writing asks students to consider a range of modes, audiences, and occasions in their work. To achieve that, we provide students in seventh and eighth grade with intensive writing workshop periods that supplement their regular English classes. In their “Possibilities of Writing” workshops, students are given space to grow their writing talent through exploring what interests them.
