Social-Emotional Competencies

Through regularly scheduled discussions, lectures, and activities in classes and workshops, your child will have a chance to meaningfully engage with their peers and our faculty. Our Middle School students consider topics ranging from navigating social media to gender norms and pressures across cultures. They cultivate strategies for speaking up on behalf of themselves and others, and they learn how to productively address friends and peers over differences of opinion and disagreements. These opportunities lay the groundwork for our school-wide efforts to promote diversity, inclusion and social justice.

Additionally, each student is assigned to an advisory where they will meet with their staff advisor and a small group of their peers. In many ways, this will become a student’s home-base as the advisory curriculum is designed to provide them with age-appropriate social, academic, and community-based supports.
