Humanities Program

Humanities Program

The MBS Humanities Program empowers students to engage introspectively, empathetically, critically, and creatively, to develop their understanding of cultures and communities around the world and across time and answer core human questions about

  • What it means to be human

  • How the human experience varies

  • How languages and stories shape identity, represent values, and connect communities

Emphasizing multicultural awareness and perspectives, the Humanities Program urges students to apply what they learn in their History, English, and World Language classes to bring the richness of the world into focus.

The program emphasizes analytical and creative modes of writing, pattern and theme recognition, presentations, inquiry-based learning, close reading, developing and honing arguments and explanations, discerning underlying connections, and practicing civil discourse through discussion-driven coursework.
