The Middle School experience also incorporates instruction in life skills and coursework in important areas such as financial literacy. Each Middle School class pauses its normal activities for a portion of the year to offer your child a mini-semester (a “mini-mester”) on financial literacy. The aim is to provide our students with lessons on how to navigate personal finance as well as an understanding of how local, national, and international commerce impact our society. Students in each grade explore concepts of increasing complexity, including topics related to credit and debt, budgets, entrepreneurship, and statistical analysis. The “mini-mester” is a refreshing way for our talented teachers to impart knowledge upon our students that builds upon current coursework and strengthens their life skills.
