Workshop Helps MBS Families Gain Insight Into College Admission Process

Morristown Beard 9th, 10th, and 11th Grade families got a glimpse into the inner workings of a college admission committee by participating in Wednesday night’s Case Studies Program, hosted by the College Counseling Office.

The evening began in Founders Hall with an introduction to the current trends in the admission landscape by Karen Pellegrino, Vice President for Enrollment Management at Saint Joseph’s University.  Participants then broke into small groups, each serving as a “committee” in the review of three applications to a fictitious college.

Admission representatives from seven colleges and universities facilitated lively discussions in determining whom to admit, waitlist and deny.  Each group was then able to compare their results to those made by the other committees.
