Winter Jazz and Percussion Concert Gets Founders Hall Jumpin'

Founders Hall was jumpin’ on Thursday evening, December 12thas the Jazz Ensemble and Percussion Ensemble performed their winter concert.

The audience was treated to the MBS Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of Dr. John Girvin, playing a wide variety of instrumental styles including the music of jazz greats Duke Ellington “It Don’t Mean a Thing”) and Scott Joplin (“Maple Leaf Rag”).

The Percussion Ensemble’s selections included the theme song from Stranger Things, which was arranged by Dr. Girvin.

The MBS Jazz Ensemble performers included: Samantha Grant, Abigail Korb, Aaron Hong, and Liam Westwood (reeds); Ethan Hong, Mikail Patankar, Ryan Recupero, Alex Grayzel, Collin Faraher, Buddy Valastro, and Gracie Meyers (trumpet); Jordan Moody, Max Nussbaum, and Gavin Frey (trombone); Terry Luongo, Zach Aycock, and Samantha Rizzo (keyboard); Matthew Francis-Manshel (guitar); and Ben Ferrier, Zach Lebovitz, and David Liu (drums).

The Percussion Ensemble was comprised of students Ian Imegwu, Matthew McIntyre, and Sam Wilshinsky.

The backstage crew included Sanaah Aslam, Henry Miller, Haylee Schwind, and Matthew Ellerthorpe.
