Vantassell '22 Selected by Windsor Spitfires in OHL Draft

Morristown-Beard boys ice hockey sophomore center Nicholas Vantassell ’22 was selected by the Windsor Spitfires in the 14th round, 280 overall of the 2020 OHL (Ontario Hockey League) Priority Selection Draft. 

Nick had career highs this season for the Crimson with 16 goals, 19 assists, and 35 points in 24 games played.

The Ontario Hockey League (OHL) is a proud member of the Canadian Hockey League which is the world’s largest development hockey league with 60 teams in nine Canadian provinces and five American states. In addition to the OHL, the CHL is made up of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League and the Western Hockey League. Last season, more than nine million fans attended CHL games in the regular season, playoffs and at the MasterCard Memorial Cup. The CHL supplies more players to the National Hockey League than any other league.

The annual Priority Selection features 300 picks over 15 rounds. North American players that reside in the province of Ontario, the states of Michigan, Pennsylvania and New York and other designated U.S. states east of the Mississippi River born January 1, 2001 through December 31, 2004 are eligible for selection through the 15 round process this year.
