Upper Schoolers Help Middle Schoolers Prepare for Model U.N.

on Wednesday from Upper School students who recently participated in the 61st North American Invitational Model United Nations in Washington, D.C.

Thanks to Upper School students Sloane Fiverson ’25, Brooke Tannen ’25, Hailey Tannen ’25, and Michael Urbach ‘25, who shared their experience and offered advice.

MBS is excited to take part in its first Middle School Model U.N. conference on Saturday, April 6 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. hosted by The Red Oaks School. The Middle School participants are assigned to a committee, research their topic, and write their position paper. On the day of the conference, the delegates will work in their assigned committees and hold discussions, progressively getting closer to finding a solution to their problem. Delegates will advocate for solutions based on the research they prepared before the conference.

While participating in the Model United Nations conference, students will learn public speaking techniques, ways of persuading their peers, and strategies for debate. They will be immersed in situations that call for conflict resolution, negotiation, and compromise.
