Students Participate in Model Congress Competition at Yale University

Our MBS Model UN/Model Congress Team was able to travel to Yale University and participate in our first ever Model Congress competition as a School. The competition took place from December 5 through December 8. MBS students dove into the intricacies of the congressional legislative process and engaged in spirited debates on key issues. They were responsible for drafting and presenting their own bills, collaborating with peers from diverse schools and backgrounds, and developing essential skills in public speaking and critical thinking. This immersive experience fosters leadership, teamwork, and a deeper understanding of civic responsibility.

The trip was chaperoned by Brian Maher, and Rachael Richard. Students who participated in the Model Congress Competition were Kai Cheng '28, Carleigh Cofer '26, Julia Covey '28, John Degnan '27, Dairelys Espinal '28, Nicki Fiverson '28, Sloane Fiverson '25, Brian O'Neill '26, Mia Rubin '26, Rebecca Schwartz '26, Allie Spencer '28, Brooke Tannen '25, Hailey Tannen '25, Michael Urbach '25 and Charlotte White '26.

MBS had four award winners who were recognized at the closing ceremonies:

  • Sloane Fiverson '25 - Honorable Mention for Best Delegate in the Congressional Senate.
  • Mia Rubin '26 - Best Legislation in the Red Judiciary Committee, and Honorable Mention for best delegate in the Red House.
  • Brooke Tannen '25 - Best Legislation in the Red Judiciary Committee.
