Students Create Morphing Artwork

Students in Zach Mazouat’s Foundations: Studio class recently created a series of drawings of objects transforming into animals. This year, with some help from Digital Illustration teacher Deanna Whelan, the students also created iMovies of the metamorphosis!

The art classes typically document the process by putting each piece next to one another to show the progression.  Those drawings are currently on display in the lobby of Founders Hall.

“This year, students also took a photo of each piece and put them into iMovie,” said Mrs. Whelan. “They had to position the pieces in a way that when they created their video, each piece faded into the next phase. The students did this completely on the iPad from beginning to end!”

Mrs. Whelan then took the students’ videos and created gifs of them that loop indefinitely.
