String Ensembles, Chorus, and Middle School Band Perform in Founders Hall

MBS kicked off its spring concert series on Tuesday night, May 2nd as the Middle School String Ensemble, the Middle School Band, the Upper School String Ensemble, and the Upper School Chorus performed in Founders Hall.

More than 40 students were featured in the concert, which began with the Middle School Strings playing and English round and a Liberian round before closing with Beethoven’s “Ode to Joy.” The Middle School Bank also played three songs including Herbie Hancock’s jazz standard, “Watermelon Man.”                    

The 12-member Upper School String Ensemble performed three pieces and finished with a duet featuring Performing Arts Department Chair David Gold (viola) and freshman Sohan Norden ’26 (cello).

The Upper School Chorus sang a diverse collection of songs including the spiritual “Soon and Very Soon” by Andrae Crouch, “Beautiful City” from Godspell, and the folk song “Bring Me Little Water, Sylvie.”
