Hands-On Service, Heartfelt Impact: MBS Students Give Back During Spring Break

10 students and two chaperones spent an unforgettable week on Johns Island, South Carolina, volunteering with Sea Island Habitat for Humanity.

The group worked to break ground on one of Habitat's new builds, by setting up the silt fence around the property and preparing the support beams. They also helped with a home rehab building new steps, and joined another volunteer group that was working on a build nearby. There was a lot of digging, hammering, sawing, drilling and using the miter. Everyone played a role in making a real impact in the community. The experience not only taught valuable skills, but also showed the importance of teamwork and giving back.

In between long days of work, the group had the chance to bond and enjoy the warm southern weather, exploring Charleston and visiting the College of Charleston. There was even time for some mini-golf.

The trip was a perfect mix of service, learning, and making memorable moments with friends.

The students who attended the service trip were: Alyssa Benbassat '26 Declan Drury '27 Oliver Herman '27 Liam Johnshon '27 Michael Lattarulo '27 Taylor O'Neill '26 Grant Price '27 Ethan Resnick '27 Tyler Rosenbaum '27 Molly Sommer '26

The chaperones on the trip were: Zach Mazouat Rachel Platt
