Sciarra '22 Collects Baseball Equipment for Underprivileged Youth

MBS junior Michael Sciarra ’22 is volunteering with a nonprofit organization called Pitch In for Baseball & Softball which accepts and distributes used equipment for underprivileged youth so that they can play regardless of their financial circumstances.

Michael began this endeavor last winter by placing a box at MBS where students could donate their sports equipment. He also collected throughout his hometown, local baseball facilities, and at his gym.

COVID came along, but that didn’t stop him. He has already completed three collections for the nonprofit organization, donating more than 100 baseball bats and 100 batting helmets as well as other items so kids can play baseball and softball.  To learn more about Pitch In for Baseball & Softball, visit www.pifbs.org.

Additionally, for several weeks last summer, Michael volunteered and hosted weekly Zoom Bingo nights for his local Department for Persons with Disabilities complete with prizes for each event.  It was a bright spot to offer fun evenings while these folks who weren’t allowed to leave their residence with the exception of walks throughout their complex.

Great job, Michael!
