Samantha Schornstein '21 Earns Girl Scouts Gold Award

Congratulations to Morristown-Beard School senior Samantha Schornstein ’21, who recently earned the Girl Scout Gold Award – the highest achievement within the organization, earned by Senior and Ambassador Girl Scouts.

To earn the Gold Award, Seniors and Ambassadors tackle issues that are dear to them and drive lasting change in their communities and beyond.  Samantha’s project focused on nature and mental health, and she created two meditation benches, a labyrinth (walking meditation maze), and a bridge in a local park.

“My mission statement was ‘to bring together mental health and nature, providing accessible calm,’” she explained. “I wanted to create a peaceful area where people could relax in nature.”

For her final project, she also gave a presentation and made a brochure that explains all of the pieces she created, the benefits of being in nature, additional mental health tips, and links to resources.
