Quiz Bowl Team Competes in National Tournament

For the first time, the MBS Quiz Bowl Team competed in the virtual Small Schools National Championships this past weekend. MBS was the only school representing New Jersey in the national tournament, and the Crimson won their first match on Saturday, but ultimately did not advance.

Congratulations to the six MBS players: Matthew Francis-Manshel ’21 Abel Guzman ’21, Henry Miller ’21, Jay Pruitt ’21, captain Timothy Schietroma ’21, and Julia Yermack ’22. English teacher Andrew Holbrook serves as the advisor for the Quiz Bowl Team.

The MBS Quiz Bowl Team qualified for the Small Schools National Championships last year, but the tournament was cancelled due to COVID. This year’s event, which was held virtually, included teams from Washington, California, Idaho, Arizona, Minnesota, and Oklahoma, to name a few.

For all five MBS seniors on the team, it was the culmination of four years of Quiz Bowl. Junior Julia Yermack ’22 will take the reins from Tim Schietroma ’21 as club president next year.

Congratulations to the entire team for a great year!
