Olivia Siegel '23 Captures Morris County Tennis Title at First Singles

Congratulations to MBS senior Olivia Siegel ’23, who captured the Morris County title at First Singles on Tuesday, October 4 with a 2-6, 6-3, 7-6 win over Laura Egan of Chatham.

Olivia, who was seeded 2nd in the Morris County Tournament, advanced to the finals with wins over opponents from Morris Hills, Whippany Park, and Morris Knolls. 

MBS junior Jackie Velikiy ’24 also had a strong showing in the Morris County Tournament, advancing to the finals before falling to Eshani Patel of Montville, 6-4, 6-2.  Jackie notched wins over opponents from Mountain Lakes, Hanover Park, and Chatham to reach the finals. 

The MBS 2nd Doubles team of Maya Bhide ’23 and Ali Strauss ’23 was seeded fourth and advanced to the semifinals with wins over Hanover Park and Villa Walsh.

The MBS girls tennis team has posted an impressive 8-2 record so far this season and stands atop the Liberty Division. 

Good luck to Olivia Siegel (singles) and Ria Shah ‘23/Maya Bhide ’23 (doubles) on qualifying for the Girls Tennis Individual State Tournament, which begins on October 6 at Mercer County Park.
