Congratulations to MBS senior Luka Okuzu ’21, who placed first in the 28th annual Kirby Mile during halftime of last Saturday’s football game with a blazing time of 5:04.56. He narrowly edged junior Charlie Sheppard ’22 (5:04.58) at the finish. In the Middle School division, sixth grader Freddie Ehrbar took first place.
This year's race was held in memory of alumnus and former Trustee Allan P. Kirby, Jr. ’49, who passed away in September. Mr. Kirby was an entrepreneur, well-respected philanthropist, and kind friend of MBS. He was instrumental in the success of Morristown-Beard School through his generosity and support, and with very high standards, kept careful watch over his beloved school. Private and humble, and a fan of all MBS sports, this extraordinary gentleman will be greatly missed.
