Middle Schoolers Receive Headmaster's Award for Character

Congratulations to the six MBS Middle School students who have been selected to receive this year’s Headmaster’s Awards for character — Rye Fleming ’26, Taylor O’Neill ’26, Addy Kelly ’25, Robert Magnotta ’25, Emily Reitman ’24, and Finn Fleming ’24.

The Headmaster’s Award is presented to the students who best exemplify the values of the School. The award is given to students whose character and honorable behavior have been demonstrated clearly. These students have demonstrated the habits of being truthful and honest, being kind to others, and promoting a climate of mutual trust and friendship throughout the School.

Class of 2026

Rye Fleming
When a problem arises, he is the first to think of a solution that benefits everyone, and in fact, he is selfless in everything he does. It is not unusual for him to offer to help another student, give a presentation at a Middle School or All-School meeting, or help plan an advisory event. Always willing to try something new, he challenges himself to step outside his comfort zone every day.

Taylor O’Neill
Kindness, selflessness and generosity set Taylor above the rest. Inclusive in every sense of the word, she makes sure that everyone feels comfortable, safe and welcome. Taylor is a leader, a risk taker as well as a standout student!

 Class of 2025

Addy Kelly
Addy’s teachers and coaches describe her as  polite,  kind, and respectful (both to adults and other students), determined, focused, and resourceful, resilient, sincere and supportive.  In the hallways and on the athletic field, she is a leader by example. On the field and court she has earned the respect of both her teammates and her coaches, even more evident as she won the Crimson Award for basketball this winter.

 Robert Magnotta
The Headmaster’s Award is given to the student in the 7th grade that best exemplifies the values of Morristown-Beard School.  A student must exhibit strong moral character, honorable behavior, academic honesty, and, equally important, should be kind and promote a climate of mutual trust and friendship in his relationships with his teachers and peers.  Robert exemplified all of these admirable characteristics and more!

Class of 2024

Emily Reitman
Over the past two years, this year’s Headmaster’s Award winner has made a lasting impression on her teachers and peers. Some of the words used to describe Emily are: hardworking, respectful, polite, helpful, thoughtful, and impressive. She is an excellent teammate and always encourages those around her.

Finn Fleming
Finn stands out due to his excellent school citizenship. Throughout all of his academic classes, he is described as creative and as one who pushes his peers to think outside the box.  He is warm and kind-hearted.  His teachers describe him as one who is enthusiastic about learning.  In the face of options, he has the integrity to always make a good choice.
