Middle School Students Try Their Hand at Blackout Poetry

On Thursday, March 3, MBS Middle School students learned how to create “blackout poetry” as part of a special workshop in Anderson Library.  Blackout poetry takes the written words of another person and asks the poet to reinvent them by highlighting or blacking out words to reveal a new meaning.

Head Librarian Erinn Salge and Assistant Librarian Talia Chaves led two 8th Grade classes through this creative exercise as part of the 21st Century Fundamentals course. The students made their own poems, added some artwork, and presented them to the rest of the group.

Their work is being shared on the Anderson Library bulletin board for the next few weeks.  Stop by and check it out!
