Middle School Students Learn about Festivals of India

At Middle School Morning Meeting on Wednesday, students learned about spring festivals in India and were treated to a dance routine by Maya Bhide ’23 and Ria Shah ’23.

MBS 7th Graders Vikrant Hajarnavis ’24 and Shaylan Patel ’24 presented an overview of the many regional spring festivals in India. They noted that Holi, the festival best known outside of India, is often referred to as the Festival of Colors. During this festival, people celebrate by joyously throwing colored powder on each other and squirting each other with water guns.

Dance plays an important part in the festivals, and 8th Graders Maya Bhide ’23 and Ria Shah ’23 performed three short dance routines that illustrate the culture of India.
