Before the MBS 6th Grade class begins collecting food to benefit the Interfaith Food Pantry, Middle School teachers kicked off the drive with a “can-struction” event — a tower-building contest with cans of food donated by the faculty.
At the Middle School Mini-Meeting on Tuesday, the 6th Grade teachers challenged 7th and 8th Grade teachers to see who can build the tallest structure in five minutes. Congratulations to the 6th Grade teachers, whose food construction towered above the others!
The 6th Graders have given themselves the challenge of donating 3,000 pounds of food to the Interfaith Food Pantry by May 9. In the coming weeks, 6th Graders will be collecting the following food items for the drive:
· Boxed cereal
· Canned fish (tuna, salmon, chicken)
· Mac N cheese
· Canned meals (Chef Boyardee, ravioli, etc.)
· Pasta
· Powdered milk
· Canned soup (low sodium preferred)
· Boxed instant oatmeal
· Spaghetti sauce (plastic preferred)
· Canned beans (no green beans)
· Rice (ready to go)
· 100% fruit juice
· Peanut butter/ sun butter/ any other NON nut butter
Please bring your donations to Ms. Dubeck’s room (MS 010).
At the conclusion of the drive, the students will also be competing in their own “can-struction” competition, so stay tuned!
