Middle and Upper School String Ensembles and Chorus Perform in Founders Hall

The sounds of the season filled Founders Hall on Monday night, December 18 as the MBS Middle and Upper School String Ensembles and the Upper School Chorus performed.

Nearly 50 students were featured in the concert, which began on a light note with the Middle School String Ensemble performing the theme from The Addams Family. The group concluded with another favorite as they played “Viva la Vida” by Coldplay.

The Upper School String Ensemble performed Bach’s “Prelude from the First Suite in G Major” (featuring Sohan Norden on cello) and Offenbach’s “Can Can” before joining the Middle School String Ensemble for “Deck The Halls.”

The Upper School Chorus sang a diverse collection of songs including “Gonna Build a Mountain,” “Why a Caged Bird Sings,” and “Still, Still, Still” before closing with “Carol of the Bells” and “An Irish Blessing,” which featured MBS alumni Salvatore D'Agostino '23, Dylan Mandel '23, Whitney McDonnell '20, and Molly Michel '20.  

The Middle School String Ensemble featured students Alexander Kothari ’28, Roshan Kothari ’29, Derek Liu ’30, Haeden Norden ’29, Jayant Phadke ’30, and Caden Reinman ’30.

The Upper School String Ensemble performers were: Christopher Blancuzzi ‘26, Jack Cueto ’24, Sarah D’Mello ’26, Severian Ekong-Reid ‘27, Mya Leines ’26, Sohan Norden ’26, Antonella Ortega ’24, Olivier Phanord ‘26, Valerie Vega ‘26, and Jason Visvikis ‘27. 

Performers in the Upper School Chorus were: Jack Bailey ’24, Patrick Birnbaum ’25, Jake Breslow ‘27, Kaitlin Brown ’24, Henry D’Andrea ’24, Riley Engman ‘24, Bridget Ewing ’24, Charlie Holdsworth ’24, Juliette Joubran ’24, Julia Karosen ’26, Adin Kasmin ’24, Maya LeVasseur ‘26, Ari Mandel ’26, Xola Moody ’24, Kassy Patino ’25, Daniel Raimer ’26, Sydney Samson ‘25, Lola Schleifer ‘27, Adam Siegel ‘27, Elianna Sparkman ‘27, Charlotte Sussman ’25, Isabella Villanova ‘24, Cameron Weil ’26, Indiya Weinmann ’25, and Alyssa Wooden ‘25.

The concert was under the direction of Choir Director Ben Krauss and Orchestra Director Carolyn Baldacchini.
