MBS to Stage "The Miser" from November 10 - 13

This year’s MBS Upper School fall play, The Miser by Molière, will take center stage in Founders Hall from Wednesday, November 10 through Saturday, November 13. The show is being directed by guest artist Nick Corley and assistant director Gregg Edelman.

The plot of this social satire concerns the classic conflict of love and money and pits a father’s greed over his children’s happiness. The miser Harpagon wishes his daughter Elise to marry a wealthy old man, Anselme, who will accept her without a dowry, but she loves the penniless Valère. Harpagon himself has set his eye on young, impoverished Mariane, whom his son Cléante also loves. As the women in the play ultimately prove, happiness lies in the heart and not in the pocketbook.
