During spring break, 10 MBS students and two chaperones spent a week in Charleston, South Carolina, where they volunteered with Habitat For Humanity — continuing an MBS tradition for over 25 years.
Some of the projects that the group worked on included wrapping a house to get it ready for aluminum siding, installing windows and doors, caulking the entire interior of the house, banging many nails to reinforce the house structure, and building stairs for the porch.
The group was also able to fit in a visit to the historical city of Charleston to explore the City Market, take an informal tour of The College of Charleston with an MBS alumna (Grace Barnett '21), and visit the downtown harbor to see Fort Sumter in the distance. On other days, the students enjoyed swimming at Kiawah Island and exploring Folly Beach.
The students on the trip were: Andi Bergman ‘25, Reid Snyder ‘26, Marilee Vartanian ‘26, Gwyneth Geoghan ‘25, Katherine Chandler ‘26, Thomas Byrne ‘25, Evan Daniels ‘26, Henry Scott ‘25, Jay Spencer ‘25, and Jawaad Travis ‘25. They were accompanied by chaperones Andrea Deventer and Darren Lovelock.
