MBS Ski Team Excels in State Championship Races

The MBS ski team enjoyed tremendous success in the NJISRA team racing championships in Vernon as the Crimson finished fourth overall in both the slalom and giant slalom events. 

The MBS ski team finished second among private/parochial schools and fourth overall out of 10 teams in the NJISRA State Slalom race on Monday, February 15. Senior Branden Hawks ’21 paced the Crimson by placing sixth overall (1:33.00) while Peter Kearney ’21 was 15th (1:40.96), Thomas Wohlbruck ’21 was 24th (1:45.16), Luke D’Andrea ’21 was 31st (1:49.15), Ryan Recupero ’21 was 37th (1:55.81), and freshman Nico Fonseca ’24 was 41st (2:00.07).

In the Giant Slalom race, MBS finished third among private/parochial schools and was fourth overall (less than two seconds from third place).  Branden Hawks ’21 had an outstanding day and was first overall in (1:10.74), while Peter Kearney ’21 was 12th (1:18.24), Thomas Wohlbruck ’21 was 17th (1:19.84), Luke D’Andrea ’21 was 35th (1:25.37), Nick Johnson ’22 was 44th (1:30.31), and James Gordon ’21 was 50th (1:44.95).

Congratulations to the MBS qualifiers for the Race of Champions: Peter Kearney ’21, Thomas Wohlbruck ’21, and Nick Johnson ’22.
