The Morristown-Beard School Quiz Bowl Team hosted its very first regional tournament on Sunday, November 10th and the event was a tremendous success.
MBS hosted around 150 competitors on 32 teams from 17 schools in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Delaware. “It was a great day! I'm glad that we could highlight an academic event at our School and expose members of the community to what quiz bowl is all about,” said Upper School English teacher Andrew Holbrook, who serves as the MBS Quiz Bowl Club advisor.
In the final match, East Brunswick A defeated Livingston A for the championship. The "home" team did well too! Morristown-Beard A made it to the quarterfinals, which was their best-ever finish.
“(MBS junior) Tim Schietroma ’21 was the one who envisioned this tournament way back in the spring. I'm so proud of him for making it happen,” said Mr. Holbrook. “He and I both are endlessly grateful to the volunteers — 17 faculty, around 20 students, and about 10 parents. It was a real community achievement!”
