MBS Middle Schoolers Enjoy Field Trips

All of the MBS Middle School grades participated in field trips on Friday, October 11th as the 6th Grade traveled to Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty, the 7th Grade visited the Franklin Institute, and the 8th Grade toured Grounds for Sculpture.

The 6th Grade traveled to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island – the gateway to the U.S. for more than 12 million immigrant from 1892 to 1954. At the Immigration Museum, the students heard accounts of what it was like to come to America between 1900-1925. They toured the Baggage Room, Great Hall, Medical Inspection Room, and Dormitory Room, among others. Several students looked up their ancestors to see if they were part of the "Wall of Honor."

The 7th Grade toured the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia – one of the country’s most celebrated museums – where they participated in a live science show and explored a number of interactive exhibits including Now/Next, the Benjamin Franklin Memorial, the Train Factory, SportsZone, Space Command, The Giant Heart, the Tech Studio, and many more.

The 8th Grade visited Grounds For Sculpture, a sculpture garden and museum in Hamilton Square, NJ just outside of Trenton. The 42-acre sculpture park opened in 2000 and now includes more than 270 large-scale contemporary sculptures.
