MBS Middle School Participating in Fitness Race with Area Schools

Although the spring sports season has been put on hold, MBS Middle Schoolers have found a fun way to stay fit while engaging in a friendly team competition. MBS and five other peer schools are participating in a virtual fitness challenge – the Amazing Race Across America. Participants are ‘racing’ across the country earning miles for every 10 or 15 minutes of exercise.

Six area independent schools are participating including Morristown-Beard School, Pingry, Kent Place, Far Hills Country Day, Peck, and Newark Academy. MBS has fielded two teams comprised of students and faculty (Team Crimson and Team White) and there are a total of 14 teams in the competition.

Vigorous exercise (running, training drills, circuit workouts, etc.) earns competitors a mile for every 10 minutes while more casual exercise (pleasure biking, stretching, shooting baskets, etc.) earns them a mile every 15 minutes.

Participants will log their miles every Friday and Monday and will be able to track their team’s progress on a virtual map that shows where they are in relation to the competition.

Thanks to MBS Director of Middle School Athletics Mike Sturgeon and the other area Athletic Directors for organizing this fun competition.  Go Crimson!
