MBS Jazz & Percussion Concert Gets Founders Hall Jumpin'

Founders Hall was jumpin’ on Wednesday evening, December 14th as the MBS Jazz and Percussion Ensembles performed their winter concert.

The audience was treated to the MBS Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of Dr. John Girvin, playing a wide variety of instrumental styles including “Green Onions,” “Cantaloupe Island,” and “Gonna Fly Now” (the theme from Rocky).

The Percussion Ensemble’s selections evoked a trip to the movies as they played the theme songs to Harry Potter and Mission Impossible.

The Middle School Band (the “MS Jazz Messengers”) demonstrated their impressive chops on pieces by Miles Davis (“So What”), Horace Silver (“Song for My Father”), and Kenny Dunham (“Blue Bossa”).

The concert featured more than 40 student performers including: Armaan Ahsan, Nicholas Anderson, Spencer Anderson, Jack Becker, Jacob Breslow, Zachary Brown, Isabella Celleri, Jacob Conti, Peter Cross, Evan Dixter, Angus Downey, Abigail Ewing, Collin Faraher, Ayo Fayemi, Gavin Frey, Jake Goldstein, Adin Kasmin, Abigail Korb, Evie Lisk, Julian Melendez, Sebastian Miscia, Max Nussbaum, Jared Palke, Maya Patankar, Calcifer Persaud, Kayla Ruggiero, Jack Song, Dylan Temple, Jack Thompson, Kevin Tone, Spencer Traub, Nick Troiano, Nicholas Tucker, Logan Turner, Arden Upadaya, Buddy Valastro, Liam Westwood, and Christopher Yermack.

Special thanks to our technical crew volunteers: Mae Bailey and Peter Buchanan.
