During the week of August 12, Morristown Beard School hosted a New Jersey Association of Independent Schools (NJAIS) instructional strategies conference on "navigating changes in the teaching profession and discovering new opportunities to blend both innovation and core teaching practices." It is the fourth year for MBS to host this NJAIS August conference.
This three-day conference was attended by 42 teachers from 12 independent schools throughout the state including: Morristown Beard School, Delbarton, The Hudson School, The Hun School of Princeton, Newark Academy, Oak Knoll School, The Pingry School, Rutgers Preparatory School, Saddle River Day School, Saint Dominic Academy, St. Benedict's Preparatory School, and The Wardlaw-Hartridge School.
Eight faculty members from MBS participated including: Jack Bartholomew, Kim DiMasi, Brendan Flanagan, Darren Lovelock, Emily Pontius, Rachael Richard, Mary Scheurer, and Kate Vignola.
Participants explored principles of effective learning, including current research in cognition, instructional design strategies, and the creation of meaningful feedback and authentic assessment.
