Once again, members of the Morristown Beard School community are being asked to continue a tradition of caring by participating in a Thanksgiving Food Drive to feed the hungry this holiday season. The drive will be held from Monday, November 8 through Wednesday, November 17.
This year, the Salvation Army has asked MBS to provide some different items than in the past. They have been given a grant to purchase most of the typical Thanksgiving items. We have assigned each grade a specific item to bring in.
Seniors – Pasta and Pasta Sauces (Canned – NO glass jars!)
Juniors – Flour and Sugar
Sophomores – Baking Mixes (cakes, muffins, breads, brownies, etc.)
Freshmen – Instant Coffee, Ground Coffee, Tea, Hot Chocolate
Middle School – Cereals and Pancake Mixes
Faculty/Staff – Dry Goods such as Rice and Beans
In addition, each advisory is being asked to make one complete Thanksgiving basket consisting of the following:
1 Box/Bag of Stuffing Mix
1 Box/Bag Instant Potatoes
2 cans Cranberry Sauce
3 Canned Vegetables (such as Sweet Potatoes, corn, green beans)
2 cans of Mixed Fruit
1 Can Apple Pie Filling
1 Can Pumpkin Pie Filling
2 boxes of Instant Pudding
2 Premade Pie Crust
4 cans of Gravy
1 Box/Bag Biscuit Mix
1 Basket/Container to hold all goods. You can be creative!
We also suggest a $2 donation per individual, which will go towards the purchase of turkeys.
Food donations and completed baskets should be dropped off in the Middle School Commons on Wednesday, November 17 by 9 a.m. Middle School advisors should give money donations to Mrs Dubeck, 9th Grade advisors should give money donations to Mrs. Platt, 10th Grade to Ms. Kirschenbaum, 11th Grade to Ms. Hartman, 12th Grade to Ms. Deventer, and Faculty/Staff should give money donations to Ms. Elliott. Thank you!
