MBS Fundraiser Benefits the Special Olympics

Since MBS was unable to play its annual Special Olympics basketball game due to COVID, the School held a fundraiser for Special Olympics this week. Parent Buddy Valastro, owner of Carlo's Bakery, donated cake pops that were sold during each lunch period, with all proceeds benefiting the Special Olympics.

The fundraiser was sponsored by the Community Service Club and the Student Government Association, and raised more than $1,200 for the Special Olympics through Thursday afternoon.

The fundraising event continues a tradition started in 2014 by MBS graduate Meg Nelligan ’16, whose brother Sean was a dedicated member of the Special Olympics basketball team and a beloved part of the Morristown-Beard community. Sean died unexpectedly in 2019, and the charity event has been held in his memory ever since.
