MBS Debate Team Competes at Montville High School

The MBS Debate Team recently participated in its second debate of the year as they competed at Montville High School, where they focused on the topic "Should single use plastics be banned?" 

“We had a total of three wins and had a total of four teams compete, a new record for us,” said club leader Alex McMahon ’25. “The debate went a lot better for everyone and we hope to have more people attending the next one!”

The students who participated in the Montville debate included debate leaders Peter Buchanan ‘25, Lauren Koepff ‘25, and Alex McMahon ‘25 along with club members Gabe Nussbaum ‘25, Sean Rizzo ‘25, William L'Estrange ‘25, Marco Valastro ‘25, and Ryan Novak ‘25. Dr. Sara Chuang serves as the club's faculty advisor.

The judges for the last debate included MBS math teacher Natalie Marone and parent John Buchanan.

The team’s next debate is Saturday, March 9.
