MBS Community Participates in Virtual Diversity Conference

On Saturday, November 13, 15 members of the Morristown Beard School community attended the virtual Far Brook School Diversity Conference – Widening the Lens 2021 – which was centered on the theme “Where Do We Go From Here? Affirming Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Independent Schools.”

MBS parents, alumni, faculty, staff, and students gathered in small breakout groups to advance the diversity discussion at their school and share challenges, experiences and best practices with colleagues from peer schools.

This year, the keynote presentation was a dynamic conversation between independent school leader Jim Best and conflict mediation specialist Jason Craige Harris to illuminate the current debate about diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts in independent schools.

The day concluded with each school reassembling in their pod to share what they have learned and begin action planning.

Attendees from the MBS community included:  Alonda Casselle, Camille Ferrell ’22, Lissa Ferrell, Meera Iyer ’25, Klarissa Karosen, Raidah Karriem ’25, Philicia Levinson, Linda Magnotta, Zach Mazouat, David McManus, Liz Morrison, A’Dorian Murray-Thomas, Betsy Patterson, Katie Pepper, and William Williams ’89.
