At special Upper and Middle School Meetings this week, the MBS community learned about Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month.
In Upper School Meeting, members of the Morristown Beard AAPI affinity group spoke about Asian American Pacific Islander contributions to the United States, including art, history, literature, technology, cuisine, and more. They also discussed the AAPI diaspora, key historical figures, and Asian American activism.
In an informal Q&A, students Ethan Kothavale ’24 and Maya Patankar ’25 spoke about real life situations and their experiences as Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders.
This year’s AAPI group was led by students Vikrant Hajarnavis ‘24, Ethan Kothavale ‘24, Jaya Pally ’25, Maya Patankar ‘25, and Kayla Ruggiero ’24. The faculty advisors are Dr. Linnea Hasegawa and Anna Kim.
