MBS Celebrates Inaugural CultureFest

At the inaugural MBS CultureFest on Thursday, May 13, the School’s talented Middle and Upper School students celebrated the cultural richness of MBS through music and dance performances on the football field.

Senior Kailyn Williams ’21 introduced the event, which was held during the lunch periods on a beautiful spring day.  

The audience was treated to a wide range of musical performances by singers Maya Bhide ’23 (“Señorita”), Emma Bosacki ’21 (“Half of My Hometown”), Tim Schietroma ’21 (“Piragua – In the Heights”), Alana Smith ’23 (“A Change is Gonna Come”), and Zac Taylor ’22 (“Lay Me Down”). MBS 8thGrader Meera Iyer ’25 also performed a Bharatanatyam dance — one of the oldest classical dance traditions in India.

The concert concluded with an energetic version of Santana’s “Oye Como Va” by the MBS Percussion Ensemble featuring Peter Cross ’24, Abigail Ewing ’24, Matthew McIntyre ’21, Kayla Ruggiero ’24, Alexandra Strauss ’23, Kevin Tone ’24, and Sam Wilshinsky ’21.
