MBS 6th Graders Donate Food and Volunteer at Local Food Pantry

MBS 6th Graders in the Brenda DeRogatis and Andrea Silvestri Advisories continued the Middle School’s community service partnership with the Interfaith Food Pantry on Tuesday, April 16 as the students volunteered at the organization’s headquarters in Morris Plains.

The students learned about food insecurity and got a quick tour of the facility before helping to sort bulk boxes of Splenda during their visit. Each 6th Grade advisory will be visiting the IFP twice during the year. On this trip, the students brought in 62 pounds of food, to go towards the 6th Grade goal of 3,000 pounds by the end of the year.

The students who participated this week were: Raquel Becker ’30, Ari Feldman ’30, Nicholas Ferlito ’30, Henry Hannigan ’30, Keerthi Jagadish ’30, Aurora Lattarulo ’30, Lana Lerner ’30, Derek Liu ’30, Alex Mazur ’30, Lucy Meehan ’30, Jonah Moody ’30, Ethan Moshel ’30, Lilah Nachtome ’30, Adam Peters ’30, Jay Phadke ’30, Adam Pottratz ’30, Mackenzie Reff ’30, Grant Sheldon ’30, Peyton Spells ’30, and Clara Thompson ’30.

Established in 1994, the Interfaith Food Pantry is a non-denominational, non-profit organization of “neighbors helping neighbors” committed to ending hunger and supporting self-sufficiency.
