MBS 6th Graders Donate Food and Volunteer at Interfaith Food Pantry

On Thursday, the MBS 6th Grade visited the Interfaith Food Pantry (IFP) in Morris Plains where they donated 289 pounds of snacks as part of the “Stack the Shelves with Snacks” initiative. Thanks to the generosity of our Middle School families, MBS has donated nearly 1,000 pounds of food to the IFP this year.

Congratulations to Jennifer Dubeck’s Advisory for winning the prize for collecting the most food — 60 boxes of fruit snacks. Each student in Ms. Dubeck’s Advisory will get a coupon for a free Crumbl cookie.

After dropping off their donations, the 6th Graders helped weigh the food, and were each given a sticker naming them “Honorary End Hunger Ambassadors.”

Each 6th Grade Advisory has visited the Interfaith Food Pantry twice during the school year to volunteer and learn about food insecurity.

Established in 1994, the Interfaith Food Pantry is a non-denominational, non-profit organization of “neighbors helping neighbors” committed to ending hunger and supporting self-sufficiency. Through its community partners, the organization provides food, education and resources to inspire confidence and hope to Morris County families in need.
