Laracca '24 and McDonald '24 Earn Player of the Week Honors

Congratulations to MBS student-athletes Marcello Laracca ’24 and Ryland McDonald ’24, who both earned Player of the Week honors last week. Marcello, a senior football player, was named the Morris Sussex Football Player of the Week by the New Jersey Herald (northjersey.com) while Ryland, a senior field hockey player, was selected the Northwest Jersey Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week by Advance Local Media (NJ.com).

Marcello rushed for 350 yards on 23 carries and 5 touchdowns to lead the Crimson to a 33-7 homecoming victory over Newark Academy during the fourth week of the season. He has also been named Player of the Week honors for his week six performance against Hackley. He carried the ball 27 times for 179 rushing yards and has helped lead the Crimson to a 5-1 record so far.

Ryland recorded 5 goals and 11 points in the Crimson's win over Whippany Park and scored another goal in a huge upset win over West Morris in the Morris County Tournament. She also tallied an assist in Morristown Beard’s 2-1 upset over second-seeded Mendham in the Morris County Tournament quarterfinal. The Crimson are off to a 5-3 start to the season and will face fifth-seeded Chatham in the semifinals on Saturday.
