Congratulations to MBS senior Rachael Kelson ’20 and junior Mikail Patankar ’21, who received the Winter Sportsmanship Awards at Upper School Morning Meeting on March 10th.
Rachael Kelson (girls winter track) and Mikail Patankar (boys swimming) were praised by their coaches for their positive attitude, for their commitment to fair play, for their exemplary treatment of others, and for their graciousness in winning and losing.
“She is a great leader on our team, usually just by quietly doing things right without drawing attention to herself,” Track Coach Scott McCormick said of Rachael Kelson. “She is respected by officials and other coaches around Morris County for her demeanor around the track, and couples intense competitiveness withoutstanding respect for the competition.”
Swimming Coach Meredith Locasto praised Mikail Patankar, saying, “In a sport that can easily become quite individualized, he always continued to have a team mentality. He has a strong competitive spirit that helped him swim personal bests all season and motivate his teammates and challenge our opponents.”
The winter Crimson Awards, which honor student-athletes who demonstrate outstanding character, commitment and leadership, will be presented at the year-end banquet in May.
