It may have been cold outside, but the MBS Jazz and Percussion Ensembles were heating things up on the Founders Hall stage last night as part of the Winter Concert Series.
Under the direction of Dr. John Girvin, the MBS Jazz Ensemble played a wide variety of instrumental styles, from Stevie Wonder’s “Sir Duke” to the holiday standard “Winter Wonderland.” The Ensemble was accompanied by vocalists Kaitlin Brown ’24, Dainel Raimer ’26, Cameron Weil ’26, and Ari Mandel ’26 for the song “September.”
Other highlights included the Middle School Band playing the theme from the movie Up and the Percussion Ensemble playing the theme song from The Simpsons, both of which were arranged by Dr. Girvin.
The MBS Jazz Ensemble performers included: Nicholas Anderson ’26, Zachary Brown ’24, Imani Crosby ’26, Evan Dixter ’26, Abigail Ewing ’24, Liam Johnson ’27, Adin Kasmin ’24, Evie Lisk ’25, Jared Palker ’27, Maya Patankar ’25, William Ross ’27, Kayla Ruggiero ’24, Brandon Sang ’27, Jack Song ’26, Sara Tang ’27, Jack Thompson ’26, Kevin Tone ’24, Nick Troiano ’25, Logan Turner ’26, Arden Upadya ’25, and Christopher Yermack ’24.
The Percussion Ensemble was comprised of students Spencer Anderson ’24, Peter Cross ’24, Angus Downey ’26, Sebastian Miscia ’26, Shawn Ramasamy ’27, and Theodore Sigalos ’27.
