Hudson Salvador '27 Selected in Western Hockey League Draft

Congratulations to MBS freshman ice hockey player Hudson Salvador ’27, who was selected by the Edmonton Oil Kings (3rd Round, 67th Pick) in the 2024 Western Hockey League (WHL) Prospects Draft. Hudson was one of only eight U.S.-born players to be selected in this year’s WHL draft.

During his freshman season this year, Hudson recorded 9 goals and 8 assists for 17 points in 14 games played for the Crimson. “Hudson has good size for his age and great vision on the ice,” said MBS Head Coach Scott Greene. “He can play every position on the ice, but he excels at forward. He really has exceptional skill as far as his playmaking ability.”

The Western Hockey League (WHL) is one of the three major junior ice hockey leagues in Canada and the United States. It's part of the Canadian Hockey League (CHL), which also includes the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) and the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). The WHL specifically focuses on teams and players from Western Canada and the Northwestern United States.

Many current NHL stars including Connor Bedard, Leon Draisaitl, Mat Barzal, Brayden Point, and Mark Stone as well as many NHL legends like Joe Sakic, Jarome Iginla, Mike Modano, Scott Neidermayer, and Bobby Clarke have come through the WHL.
