Hong '23 and Magnotta '21 Receive Spring Sportsmanship Awards

Congratulations to MBS student-athletes Aaron Hong ’23 (boys tennis) and Kim Magnotta ’21 (girls golf), who received the Spring Sportsmanship Awards as part of the Upper School Spring Sports Celebration on June 4.

Hong and Magnotta were praised by their coaches for their positive attitude, for their exemplary treatment of others, and for their graciousness in winning and losing.

Boys Tennis Coach Brett Michel ’86 said that Aaron Hong always puts the team first and made the switch from singles to doubles this year without complaint. The coaching staff is very proud to have him as an ambassador, not only for our team but for our School,” said Coach Michel. “Aaron shows everyone how tennis should be played – with a high level of skill that is matched or even surpassed by a high level of integrity and respect for the game, his opponents, and his teammates.

Girls Golf Coach Cathy Kellstrom applauded Kim Magnotta for her ability to balance her academics with her role as a leader on the volleyball team and the girls golf team in overlapping seasons this year. “She carries herself with poise and grace on and off the court. She’s always doing the right thing — even when no one is watching,” said Coach Kellstrom.
