Members of the MBS GLOW (Girls Leading Our World) Club participated in an “In Her Shoes” workshop on Tuesday, April 16th to increase their awareness and empathy for women who are experiencing violence.
Originally developed by the Washington State Coalition on Domestic Violence, “In Her Shoes” is an interactive exercise designed to allow women and men the opportunity to walk “in the shoes” of women experiencing violence.
The workshop is built around 10 stories of real women who are experiencing violence. Participants move through the stories in pairs and make choices along the way to seek help or support.
The exercise concluded with a brainstorming session during which participants thought about ways they can take action to support women experiencing violence and how they can work to prevent violence against women.
