Girls Tennis Team Stays Undefeated

Despite losing four seniors to graduation, the MBS girls tennis team is off to an undefeated start this season with a perfect 6-0 record and has already clinched first place in the division.

Senior captain Hannah Blake ’21 was undefeated at 1st singles before she was injured in the Hanover Park match on Monday. The team is hoping Hannah will be able to return to continue her senior tennis season.

Sophomore Olivia Siegel ‘23 is also undefeated this season.  After starting at 2nd singles, Olivia has added three more wins this week at 1st singles to raise her overall record to an impressive 6-0.

Junior Sophie Schramm ’22 has moved from 1st doubles last year to a singles spot this season.  She has played well both at 3rd singles and now 2nd singles with 4 wins.

Both MBS doubles teams are new to varsity this year.  In 1st doubles, Ria Shah ‘23 and Campbell Blake ‘24 are undefeated. The 2nd doubles team of Julia Yermack ‘22 and Mira Ramasamy ‘22 are also undefeated on the season.

Seniors Sarah Karbachinskiy ’21 and Maddie Sperling ’21 played well in a start against St. Elizabeth’s. They will also get a start on October 23 at Whippany Park. Sophomores Samara Green ’23 and Maya Bhide ’23 will see more time with the adjusted lineup.

The team is looking forward to the State Tournament next week, and after working hard from the preseason, they have earned the top seed of their State section.  Go Crimson!
