As part of their team banquet last weekend, the Morristown Beard girls soccer team collected reusable bags to benefit two local nonprofits — Table of Hope and Extra Helpings Delivered.
Community service is a cornerstone of the Morristown Beard School educational experience, and helps MBS students build character and gain self-confidence on their journey to becoming productive and socially responsible citizens.
The need for reusable bags is increasing since Governor Phil Murphy and the New Jersey Legislature recently enacted a law that phasing out single-use plastic bags, beginning in 2022.
Table of Hope needs bags for their clients to use when they pick up groceries. Often, people arrive empty-handed or with children in their arms, and don’t have the reusable bags to bring much-needed groceries home for themselves and their families. They are hoping for 1,000+ bags.
Extra Helpings Delivered needs reusable bags for grocery deliveries as well. They are hoping to collect 250 bags. Reusable bags can be new or gently-used. All donated bags are wiped down with Lysol before being donated.
